Amazing, Local Newspaper Reports Pet Food Illness

This is something that doesn't happen very often; a Dayton Ohio newspaper reported on a pet illness from the recently recalled Iams/Eukanuba brands.  Now if we can just get more local newspapers to do the same.

Staff writer John Nolan for the Dayton Daily News shared a story about a local man's complaint that "his dog suffered several weeks of vomiting and diarrhea while eating the Eukanuba Naturally Wild dry food he bought on July 11."  The story shares that P&G veterinarians will/are investigating.  http://www.daytondailynews.com/news/dayton-news/p-g-investigating-whether-its-pet-food-made-dog-sick-871821.html

Maybe this is one more thing that we need to add to our list if our pets become sick from a cat or dog food; report it to local media.

Should you suspect pet food to be the cause of a pet illness, contact your Veterinarian first.  Report the event to the FDA; here is the link to the FDA Safety Reporting Portal: https://www.safetyreporting.hhs.gov/fpsr/WorkflowLoginIO.aspx?metinstance=352B6647608C24962B97266C49309ACE314B6281

Report the even to your State Department of Agriculture; ask to speak to the individual in charge of pet food.

Report the event to your local media; newspaper and television.

Never discard the pet food packaging (can or bag) until you are certain the food will not/did not cause an illness.  The FDA will not investigate without the packaging.

Wishing you and your pet(s) the best,
