In a pet owner poll recently conducted by the Associated Press and Petside.com, 50% of pet owners stated their pet was just as much a part of the family as any other person in the household. 

The AP and Petside.com poll proves what most followers of this website already believes, our pets are just as important as all other family members; they are family.  Other questions of the poll provide some interesting insight on how we feel about our furry family.

Forty-nine percent of those polled gave their pet(s) a human name.  Thirty percent allow their furry family to sleep in their human’s bed; only 13% have the pet sleep outdoors. 

Only 19% of those polled have ever bought an outfit for their pet.  Seventy-two percent do NOT celebrate their pet’s birthday (this makes me wonder if these 72% don’t celebrate other family member’s birthdays). 

Thirty-five percent include their pet in a family portrait; 33% include their pet in a holiday card.  And a whopping 42% take their pet on vacation!
