Pet Food Commercials, What are they thinking?
- 3-7-2010

Do some pet food commercials make you wonder what in the world the company was thinking? Dancing turkeys and 'optimal pooping'? Is someone doing illegal drugs?
The new Friskies Cat Food commercial puzzles me why anyone would want to feed this food based on this advertising. The can of cat food opens and suddenly the cat starts hallucinating colors dancing around in the kitchen. Next, this poor cat ‘trips’ through dancing turkeys and flying fish, a boat ride – on a fish shaped boat – ending at some type of mystical palace with hopping puffy chickens (I think that’s what they are) that roll out the red carpet. Whoa dude…cool dancing turkeys man...this is some awesome @#$%. Somebody was doing some serious illegal drugs when they came up with this commercial; just what we need...a hallucinating cat.
Friskies won’t let me embed the video of the commercial here, but you can watch it on YouTube, here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBM7ayPrimY
Have you seen the Pedigree Healthy Digestion Commercial? There’s a puzzler. This commercial brags that the pet food makes the dog become a ‘Good Pooper’. No wait, it brags that because of this dog food, the dog will be an “Optimal Pooper”. Now there’s some sound reasoning to buy a pet food....optimal pooping.
Another one that just makes wonder what they were thinking…the Beggin’ Bacon Strips commercial. Why in the world would anyone want to give their dog a treat that caused the dog to react like it’s on speed? Running over children, climbing over people and furniture, jumping on the stove…all while ‘talking’ so fast it’s difficult to understand. Makes me wonder how the dog would react on two Beggin' Bacon Strips (only suitable for late night television I guess). Oh yeah, this is the behavior I want from my dogs.
Illegal drugs…it must be the reason.
Wishing you and your pet(s) the best,
Susan Thixton

"Optimal pooping?", neurotic pups tearing thru the house; who thinks up this stuff?
There's probably laxatives for optimal pooping and enough chemicals in Beggin'Strips to drive any dog crazy!
Classic, totally classic examples of the pet food companies treating pet owners like morons.
It is insulting and embarrassing for anyone, anyone who honors the bond between pets and their people.
Not the mention the ghastly products themselves!
