Pet Food that is certified Pathogen Safe

A new process developed by Stella & Chewy’s Pet Food kills pathogens like salmonella without heat or irradiation.

Stella & Chewy’s Pet Foods manufacture a line of raw frozen pet foods and treats.  Salmonella contamination is a concern with all pet foods and human foods.  Stella & Chewy’s “has developed a patent-pending SecureByNature® system to guard against food contamination throughout the manufacturing plant.  A key component of this system is the HHP (Hydrostatic High Pressure) process – a technology that actually eliminates harmful pathogens without cooking out vital nutrients or changing the natural taste. HHP is the only scientifically recognized pasteurization method that does not use heat or irradiation to accomplish this.”

The company states in a press release that Stella & Chewy’s is the first and only line of raw dinners and treats that’s Certified Pathogen Safe for families and pets.

Sounds very interesting, however I hope the company provides more information, more understanding about the new pasteurization process.

Wishing you and your pet(s) the best,

If this is the "real deal" it'll be terrific.

The great thing aobut the Stella and Chewy's methods is that you can look at the code on the back of their bags, go to their website and see the test results for that exact bag of food. No doubt that that bag tested free of pathogens. Amazing to be able to have that power as a consumer.

Good news: yesterday Nature's Variety told us they're switching to this system of high pressure (HHP) method of sterilization for their raw foods as well. It's been coming for some time, and they're ready with it now.

Does anyone know what ingredient in the Natures Variety had the actual salmonella, there are also eggs and some other ingredients that could have been problematic.    Also does anyone know what strain of salmonella they found?
