Plus: The By Nature Pet Food Representative told me the ingredients are human quality/grade. The mineral listings do read to be chelated or proteinated (for better mineral absorption). This pet food contains several quality animal protein sources (chicken meal, chicken liver, fish meal). Contains flax seed & alfalfa - quality ingredients.

Minus: This food does not appear to contain friendly bacteria (benefits the intestinal system and in turn the immune system of the pet).

To explain the rating – only the first five ingredients – the majority of the food – are rated and listed in bold type. Grey Font ingredients imply ingredients providing pets little to no nutrition, and Red Font ingredients are Red Flag ingredients that are potentially dangerous to pets. Quality ingredients are listed in bold black font. Five quality ingredients gives the pet food a five Paw Print rating. Four quality ingredients gives the pet food a four Paw Print rating, and so forth. Four Paw Prints is the highest rating possible for a canned pet food. Do not rely on the paw print rating alone; read the Plus/Minus information and manufacturer information at the top of each page.

I recently contacted Raymond Devone at Blue Seal Feeds and asked the question, "Where are your canned cat foods, both organic and non-organic made?" This is the response I got, exactly as written in the email, which is different from the information you have which says Evanger's. Which is correct?

ORGANIC:  Precision Foods, South Dakota
Non-   “   Menu Foods (CANADA)
(our recipes; their processing---we don’t own a cannery)

This food looks good however I wondered about flaxseeds in general. I have heard that it is a good source of Omaga 3 and 6 but dog can't digest whole seeds to get the good out of it so food company use milled flaxseeds. Then I have heard that when it's milled, flaxseeded will react to the air (oxidation) which will get rid of Omega 3 and 6 anyway. So what is the point of adding it in there?
