Response from Representative Patrick McHenry

Dated; November 21, 2008

Dear Ms. Fryou:

Thank you for contacting my office to express your opinion
regarding H. R. 2108, the Human and Pet Food Safety Act. I appreciate
having the benefit of your thoughts.

On May 2, 2007, Representative Rosa DeLauro (D-CT),
introduced H. R. 2108 to increase safety for both human and pet food.
This bill would require any person who has reason to believe that any
food is unsafe to immediately notify the Secretary of Health and Human
Services. Additionally, this legislation would require greater
standards and increased labeling requirements for pet food.

H. R. 2108 has been referred to the House Energy and
Commerce Committee, where it awaits action. While I do not sit on this
committee, please know that I will keep your thoughts in mind should
this legislation come to the House floor for a vote.

Thank you again for contacting my office. It is an honor to
serve as your United States Congressman. Your suggestions are always
welcome, and if ever I may be of assistance, please do not hesitate to
call me.

Sincerely,

Patrick McHenry

Member of Congress
