Southwest Airlines New Pet Policy
Beginning June 17, Southwest Airlines will allow small dogs and cats to fly (in the cabin) as long as their carriers fit under the seat.  Southwest will charge $75.00 each way for your pet to travel with you.  The Wall Street Journal reported that Delta Air Lines charges $150.00 each way; United Airlines charges $125.00 each way domestically and $250.00 on international flights.  http://blogs.wsj.com/middleseat/2009/05/29/bark-with-bite-airline-fees-creeping-up-now-at-southwest/

New Study Further Proves risk of BPA
The Harvard School of Public Health just released a new study confirming the risk of BPA (bisphenol A), a chemical common to plastic and canned foods (pet and human foods).  Participants in the Harvard study showed a two-thirds increase in their urine of BPA.  Exposure to BPA has been scientifically linked to cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

This Dog's a Hero
On one of the busiest highways in New York City, one brave dog protected his friend; another dog who had been hit by a car.  This is a heart warming story (with a good ending).  The following link also shares a similar story of a dog in Chile last year.  This Dog's a Hero

It Is Personal
The popular movie You’ve Got Mail, starring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks, contains a line that perfectly fits the feeling many pet owners share.  When Tom Hanks tells Meg Ryan “it wasn’t personal” (for destroying her business), her response sums up the feeling many pet owners feel when they learn a trusted pet food poisoned their pet.

More to the Science Diet vs. Blue Buffalo Story
Science Diet Pet Food has taken issue to Blue Buffalo Pet Food’s advertising; the riff between these two pet food companies has been turned over to the Federal Trade Commission.  When you consider information provided by AAFCO, the Science Diet complaint makes no sense at all; however the AAFCO information does confirm how crazy the pet food industry really is.

Pet Health and Chemical Cleaning Agents
Here’s a common complaint we hear: My pet is sick and my vet can’t figure out why. Many times, it is not their fault! They are trained to treat the symptoms that stem from something that is likely to be temporary condition; no way can they effectively treat constant health threats like household cleaners or air fresheners.
