My friend and my partner in Dinner PAWsible, holistic veterinarian Cathy Alinovi sent me a very sad story of what damage a pet food can cause.  When you work day in and day out spreading the word that food really matters (as Dr. Cathy does), events like this just make you even more determined.  Food REALLY does matter.

I woke up this morning in a bit of a panic. I had a full nights sleep without hearing Nick cough. I first jumped to all kinds of conclusions and then jumped out of bed, followed by a few, early-morning, energetic canines in residence, and went in search of Nick.  The household was still asleep at 6:30am and completely quiet. However, I was on a mission and I started yelling for Nick.

So where does “savvy consumer” meet up with “I never thought of that.” One place would be the kitty section of your local retailer. Aisle after aisle devoted to pet toys, grooming aids, flea prevention, treats and, of course, the myriad of cat litter varieties. How many of us actually read a cat litter label as something for our pets to eat. We should.
