We are Changing Pet Food
The FDA allows Pet Food to break Federal Law
The United States Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act is a set of laws passed by Congress giving authority to the FDA to oversee the safety of food, drugs, and cosmetics. However, the FDA is blatantly ignoring these laws with pet foods.
Briefly, the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act states NO food - human or pet food - may contain a diseased animal or any animal that has died other than by slaughter. (Section 402 (a) and Section 402 (a)(5)) Ignoring Federal law, the FDA is allowing 4-D animals - dead, dying, disabled, and diseased animals to be processed into pet food. The proof is undeniable. Here is what the FDA website states about Federal Law 402(a)(5):
“Pet food consisting of material from diseased animals or animals which have died otherwise than by slaughter, which is in violation of 402(a)(5) will not ordinarily be actionable, if it is not otherwise in violation of the law. It will be considered fit for animal consumption.”

The FDA, despite Federal law, decided that diseased animals or animals which have died other than by slaughter, is safe for your pet to eat. In other words, the FDA is telling pet owners: ‘Yes, we realize there is a law against this, but we’re not going to do anything about it.’
How much dead, dying, disabled, and diseased animals are used in pet food?
A startling amount! Below is a quote from Garth Merrick, a Texas cattleman, in a letter to the FDA (http://www.fda.gov/ohrms/dockets/dailys/04/aug04/081304/04n-0264-c00034-vol7.pdf):
"Our company services mostly Texas and parts of New Mexico, Oklahoma and Kansas. Last year we processed 255,000 head of dead stock not counting calves with an average weight of 600 pounds per carcass. The total weight comes to 153,000,000 pounds that makes its way into feed ingredients."
ONLY Dead Cattle in Texas
Not including every other US state and every other 4-D animal.
This Must STOP.
No government agency should be allowed to violate Federal law. No dog food, cat food, or pet treat should contain even the slightest bit of a diseased, dead, disabled, or dying animal; every pet food should be labeled honestly. The law provides this for our pets.
The FDA and Congress must be held accountable for their action - or lack of action. Very soon, pet owners all over the
Very soon, together, we'll make changes in pet food!
Please consider writing a letter to your Congressional Representative. All US States need representation. If you are willing to help, please read the article detailing what the FDA has done, and how you can add your name to the list below. Click Here to read. If you know of a pet owner in a state not currently represented, please forward them this webpage and the article explaining it all.
