Barely three years ago Pet Food suffered the largest recall in history. Thousands of dogs and cats died.
Not with the safety of Pet Food; regrettably even though thousands of beloved pets died in the 2007 pet food recall and even though Congress demanded change in pet food regulations…not one thing has changed since the 2007 Pet Food Recall to assure the safety of pet food.
The 2007 pet food recall taught Pet Food and the FDA something BIG. The 2007 pet food recall taught Pet Food and the FDA that Pet Parents go a little ballistic over news of a pet food recall. It’s been referred to as ‘pet food hysteria’. Instead of just going on as usual, panicked ‘hysterical’ Pet Parents turned to blogging and Tweeting about a tainted pet food. We (pet parents) shared every bit of pet food news the best way we could hoping to save the life of someone’s pet. This blogging and Tweeting resulted in a damaged image of safe, wholesome pet foods guided by a trusted Federal agency.
So…today…things are different. Today…instead of pet food being recalled as it was in the past (and as required by Federal law)…today pet food is being recalled silently. Quietly, and under the direction of the FDA, Pet Food is being silently recalled from store shelves without public notice. Quietly tainted pet food is being removed from store shelves with no concern of alerting the Pet Parents that have already purchased the tainted food. No concern of pets that are eating that tainted pet food right now.
Silent Pet Food recalls are killing pets. Silent Pet Food recalls have to STOP.
Please read our plan to help save your pet’s health and/or life with our “Pet Food Recall First Alert Program”.
But, things are different now.

In 2007 the villain was melamine.
Today the villain is silence.
Silent Pet Food recalls are killing pets. Silent Pet Food recalls have to STOP.
Silent Pet Food recalls CAN stop with your help!
Please read our plan to help save your pet’s health and/or life with our “Pet Food Recall First Alert Program”.

This isn't about hype or pet food hysteria…this is about being honest, candid, and prompt in informing Petsumers about a pet food problem that could take the life of their beloved pet.
Here's how it works...
Here's how it works...
- Concerned pet owners will ask their Pet Food Company to participate in the Pet Food Recall First Alert program.
- Each participating Pet Food Company will agree to initiate an email alert system to promptly notify customers when/if a problem is discovered with a pet food; for customers that wish to be notified via voice mail, the Pet Food Company agrees to initiate a voice mail system as well.
- Once your Pet Food Company's notification system is up and running, Pet Parents can register at their Pet Food Company's website to be notified of a pet food recall or pet food product withdrawal.
- Each participating Pet Food Company will be listed on TruthaboutPetFood.com as a member of Pet Food Recall First Alert Program.
- Millions of Pet Food customers will be promptly notified of a recalled pet food; Millions of Pet Parents will see the final list (coming soon on TruthaboutPetFood.com); which Pet Food Companies have chosen integrity over secrecy.

Over the past several months, consumers have learned of numerous pet food withdrawals across the U.S. Pet foods were quietly pulled from store shelves due to sick and/or dying pets. The FDA didn't provide this information about potential bad pet food; consumers were forced to learn this information on their own.
We (pet owners) understand that human error happens; no company can guarantee their foods will be completely safe, every single batch, month after month and year after year. While no one wants to learn there is a problem with their pet food, what we REALLY don't like is learning of a silent pet food recall from Internet forums or blogs. On this note, we ask you to consider the following…
Should the worst happen and you need to recall or pull a pet food or treat from store shelves, we ask that you inform your customers directly. With the assistance of an email auto-responder program (such as Get-Response or Constant Contact) your customers can register for your alerts. A brief email can be sent to all of your registered customers with a click of a mouse, alerting them to stop feeding a recalled food. We ask that you alert all registered customers within 24 hours of your company’s product pull or within 24 hours of your company’s knowledge of a pet food problem. This small effort on your part can save the life of countless pets.
We also ask that you post a “warning” on the main page of your website to alert consumers of the lot numbers being recalled.
We are not asking for your Pet Food Company to ignore reporting a problem to regulatory authorities. We are simply asking that you promptly inform your customers directly should a problem with a pet food or pet treat occur. We are very aware that although the FDA initiates recall press releases, we know that many times pet owners do not learn of the recall until it is too late. This simple program can work together with the FDA to inform more pet owners when a problem occurs.
